Itinerary - 10 Days

1 Ushuaia, Argentina

Ushuaia is a busy port situated in Argentina's southernmost tip. The adventurous city is nestled between snow-capped Andean mountains and the shores of the Beagle Channel. The Tierra del Fuego National Park is a must-visit for those disembarking or a why not opt for a cruise on Ushuaia Bay which is the perfect way to spot sea lions and Magellanic penguins.

2-3 Crossing the Drake Passage

During your time at sea, make the most of your time onboard Le Boreal. Catch up with our onboard National Geographic Expert and photographer as they give greater insight into the destination via lectures and workshops or visit the photo gallery area where you can take a look at some of the professional photos that have been taken during your trip so far. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or head to the observation lounge to enjoy some reading whilst taking in your surroundings, where you may be lucky enough to spot some wildlife in the waters below.

4-8 Antarctic Peninsula

The mythical Antarctic Peninsula is an are many find fascinating. Find yourself in the heart of the icy seas, surrounded by breath-taking scenery and wildlife in their element.

Each day, based on ice conditions, the Captain and the Expedition Leader may suggest Zodiac® outings or landings to discover the infinite riches of the Antarctic Peninsula. Enjoy glaciers, ice floe, tabletop icebergs, mountain peaks that plunge straight into the sea, volcanic beaches, research stations, enchanting bays, and vestiges of the whaling industry.

9-10 Crossing the Drake Passage

The Drake Passage is situated at the latitude of the infamous Furious Fifties winds, between Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands and is the shortest route to Antarctica.

Harbouring very unique and diverse marine fauna, Drake Passage is where the cold currents of the South Pole meet with the warmer equatorial waters making for a sometimes-interesting voyage. Looking up to the sky you may be lucky enough to see albatross and Cape petrels, playfully flying above the ship.

11 Ushuaia, Argentina

Disembark from where you started in Ushuaia, the capital of Argentina's Tierra del Fuego province. Take the opportunity to explore the city some more, riding on the heritage railway which can take you on an excursion into the Tierra del Fuego National Park or visit the End of the World Museum which showcases Tierra del Fuego's natural and indigenous history.
